The Barbell Club at TJ’s Gym San Rafael is a great way to develop your Olympic weightlifting

skills and get stronger for your CrossFit workouts and other pursuits. You will be able to

increase the intensity of your CrossFit workouts with greater weight loads handled safely and
with good form. Workouts at the Barbell Club will allow you to focus on strength and power in
a way that’s just not possible in a regular CrossFit class. All are welcome at our Barbell Club,
from novices to seasoned lifters! You don’t need to be breaking national records to come in
and take advantage of this special resource! You will be coached by some of TJ’s Gym’s
finest weightlifting coaches and will enjoy the camaraderie that comes with lifting with peers.

What will I do at BBC?

The BBC class format is similar to that of a CrossFit class, and has four parts. First is a general warm-up of joints and muscles. Second is a skill complex performed with a light barbell to practice  key movement patterns for the day’s lifting. Third is performance of a classic lift, either the Snatch or Clean and Jerk, according to the day’s programming. Fourth is strength work, with emphasis on pulls and the front and back squat.
